About Me
I am currently an Assistant Language Teacher teaching English at eight different schools in Tsuruoka City, Japan. Beyond teaching natural-sounding English, however, a part of my job is to foster cultural awareness among students. By raising awareness of other cultures’ values and ways of life, I believe that students will be better prepared to navigate today’s ever-globalizing society.
Successful cross-cultural communication is a combination of overcoming language barriers as well as understanding other cultural perspectives. This is true not only with cross-cultural communication, but also with translation and localization. As I transition into this field, I hope to use my linguistic and cultural fluency in Japanese and my nativity as an English speaker to write smooth, seamless translations.
